2.1 What version of Emacs can be used?
You can run emacs-w3m in various versions of Emacsen listed below:
- `Emacs 21.x'
- No additional packages are required.
- `Emacs 22.x'
- No additional packages are required. If you're using a prerelease version
of Emacs 22 (such as versions 21.3.50 or 22.0), make sure it is newer
than March 2004.
- `XEmacs 21.x'
- The APEL package and the `gifsicle' program are required
(see section 2.3 Things required to run emacs-w3m). We recommend using the latest XEmacs 21.4
which seems stable.
- `Emacs 20.x'
- No additional package is required. Furthermore, you can see monochrome
bitmap images inline by using the BITMAP-MULE package (see section 2.3 Things required to run emacs-w3m).
- `Emacs 19.34 (including Mule 2.3)'
- The APEL package, the `new custom' package and the
`regexp-opt.el' module are required. If you are using Mule 2.3
based on Emacs 19.34, you can see monochrome bitmap images inline by
using the BITMAP-MULE package (see section 2.3 Things required to run emacs-w3m).
