Emacs-w3m is not supporting VM positively. It is simply because there is no VM user in the emacs-w3m team. However, don't be pessimistic. There is the `vm-w3m.el' module in the attic directory of the emacs-w3m distribution. You are a lucky person if it is helpful to you. Try it anyhow. You can find how to use it in the file itself.
If you want to toggle displaying of images in the presentation buffer when you are in any VM buffer, use the following:
