この number は、halfdump に出現した form の各入力要素に、
w3m-form-parse-and-fontify が 1 から順番に勝手に割り振った id です。

id は必ず存在するはずなので、このチェックは不要と思いますが、
もしや、nil になる場合があったということでしょうか？

ここで number 順になるようにソートしてるのですよね。
正しい対処と思います。
