I couldn't reproduce this with both emacs-w3m v1.4.4 and the one
in the CVS repository.  Do you use a custom function which you
set the `w3m-mailto-url-function' variable to?  Otherwise, if it
happens with a certain web page, please let me know the url.

Sorry, I'm not skilled with and I've never be troubled with it.
Does anyone know how this is solved?

Also indicating the version of emacs-w3m is better, but using
`C-c C-b' (M-x report-emacs-w3m-bug) is much better.
