finer grained control of w3m-session

Hi,
I use emacs-w3m for all my browsing, which includes Google's Gmail
pages. The latter has an autoreload feature, which totally bloats my
session file. Unfortunately, i cannot see a direct way of limiting the
session file size, or history length, in the w3m-session customizable
interface. A variable for filtering out URLs,
w3m-history-ignored-regexp, does exist in w3m-el, but it's defined with
defconst, so i don't know how safe it is to modify it outside emacs-w3m.
Are there any plans to extend w3m-session in any of the ways suggested
above, or should i just hack them on my own?
Best regards,
jao
