no PHP at localhost with Emacs-w3m but works with Iceweasel

I have an index.php file in /var/www but Emacs-w3m
doesn't preprocess it, instead I get the source,
however the same file *is* preprocessed (with
Emacs-w3m) in another machine's public_html, *and*
when I try the same with Iceweasel I get it done both
places - ideas?
