You can see the current configuration of Travis-CI for emacs-w3m at https://github.com/emacs-w3m/emacs-w3m/blob/master/.travis.yml. The current configuration invokes make command only, thus it can detect byte-compile errors. Of course, we will be able to create additional test sets as you proposed.
Anyway, I hope you will resolve conflicts.
