Oh, I neglected to mention why I posted the PR and why now. Normally, I never use a wide screen for emacs-w3m browsing - I always use C-x 3 to divide the screen. Yesterday, I was using the db-history feature and needed to see the wider lines so I changed to a single-window frame, and that's when the issue became obvious.
