Thank you for your great contribution.

I examined both your work and Mr. Sugawara's work closely, and
compared them.  Finally, I got the middle implementation among them.
My version has been registered into the `experimental-async' branch on
the CVS repository.  Could you try it?

というわけで、非同期化してみました。非同期化した版は、新しい 
experimental-async 枝に commit されています。試してみたい方は、

    cvs update -r experimental-async

として、枝を移動してください。

繰り返しになりますが、この実装では、Mr. Koivisito の実装と菅原さんの実
装を比較検討し、様々なアイデアを両実装から頂きました。重ねて御礼申し上
げます。

しかし、手元で試していても、タイミングによっては固まったり、色々と危険
な現象が起こりますので、常用するのはまだまだ難しいかもしれません。特に、
画像の表示の非同期化では、不可解な現象(一部の画像が豆腐になってしまう)
が発生しているのですが、まだ原因はまったく分かっていません。
