Yes we are there and Teranishi-san gave us a hint that the
emacs-w3m in the CVS trunk may have been fixed by Shirai-san.
He has changed the default value for w3m-coding-system to
iso-2022-7bit-ss2 for w3mmee at 2002-04-08.  May be just that
change fixes your problem, otherwise you can check out the most
recent emacs-w3m from anonymous CVS[1] or ViewCVS[2].
