License of Info Manuals

Hi,

I propose changing the license of Info manuals from GNU Free
Documentation License (GFDL) to GNU General Public License (GPL).

A person who redistribute a document under GFDL can add "Invariant
Sections" to it; this addition makes the document conflict Debian Free
Software Guideline (DFSG).  For more detail about this problem, see

I believe that we should select the license that assures permanent
freedom of our manual.  If "freedom" in this sentence means a
phenomenon defined by DFSG, GPL is better than GFDL as the license of
our manual.

So, I am seeking the writers' approval for my proposal.  Please send
your opinion, approval or disapproval, to this mailing list.
