I know practically nothing concerning (e)lisp.  I didn't know that I was
trying to completely rewrite the alists as opposed to adding to them.

I saw something on the net, possibly on dotemacs, saying (obviously
falsely) that these were required.  Now if I could only find the site...

For future reference, if there is a short answer and you have a minute,
can you explain the difference in these two forms?  I have seen both but
don't know why one would be used instead of the other.

As concerns my quicksearches, they now work.  Thanks a million.
