Looks good.
When trying w3m-use-tab = nil the window splits per w3m-pop-up-windows.
The docstring of w3m-pop-up-windows reads slightly like its "ignore" is
for second or further w3m. It it no split whenever w3m-use-tab? Maybe
a small rewording could clarify.
(I have to confess to never trying those variables before :-)
