If you have applied async patch from
http://www.page.sannet.ne.jp/knabe/w3m/w3m-0.5.1-async-1.diff.gz
emacs-w3m hangs on browsing the internet. (emacs-w3m itself runs
asynchronously) Just my .02 cents.
